MICHIGAN AVE.
FROM $279,900
TO $5,499,900
Once the world’s tallest building and the former headquarters of the Montgomery Ward company, Six North Michigan may be ready to regain some of its former luster. In 2007, after one developer failed to complete the building’s conversion to condos, a second developer, 6 North Michigan Avenue Investments, took over the job and immediately upgraded the quality of the interior finishes. The kitchen appliances and bathroom fixtures, for example, are all premium European brands, “on par with or above all our competitors on [Michigan Avenue],” says Kristine Kramer Schultz, the @Properties agent handling sales in the building.
At presstime, 58 of the 120 condos remained for sale. There are one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts available, although Kramer Schultz says the largest number are one-bedrooms. Prices start at $279,900 for a 911-square-foot one-bedroom unit and reach $5,499,900 for a 5,500-square-foot penthouse on four floors of the building’s tower. (That price is an anomaly; most available units are priced under $1.3 million, and the one-bedroom condos top out at $399,900.) Parking spaces cost $55,000 or $60,000.
