The Bears and Packers play tonight. It's a big game. If our boys lose, grown men will weep.
How should you prepare for such a potential tragedy? Stop by your neighborhood bookstore and pick up a copy of Rich Cohen’s new book on the 1985 Bears, the Super Bowl (shufflin’) champs, Monsters: The 1985 Chicago Bears and the Wild Heart of Football. It's a terrifically written and entertaining trip down memory lane, as you can see in this Chicago excerpt from October (and this excerpt from Sports Illustrated, too).
So, should the Bears lose tonight (and I’m not saying they will) at least you can harken back to the days when Walter, McMahon, Ditka, the Fridge—and the other Monsters—dominated and scared the shit out of the rest of the NFL.
Want more? This is your lucky month, you literary football fanatic. The author and Glencoe native has a bunch of local book events this week and next.
