Every Thursday the Census Bureau produces an infographic shedding light on their data, and it's always a worthwhile diversion. Yesterday, they did metro growth:

Of all the cities that aren't in the South, West, or Southwest, only Minneapolis had any population gain from domestic migration (unless you count D.C, which is still kinda Southern), and that was pretty small. It's to be expected; another, interactive Census Bureau infographic shows how the U.S. population has shifted south and west from 1790 to 2010.
