Former Cubs outfielder/third-baseman and current utility announcer Keith Moreland just got moved up to the big leagues–he’s the pick to replace the beloved Ron Santo in the WGN broadcast booth. The good-hit/no-field Moreland was immortalized in Steve Goodman’s great "The Dying Cub Fan’s Last Request," and there’s a bittersweet coda to that which endears him further to me after having watched a lot of Moreland on the field when I was a kid (via Bleed Cubbie Blue, which ranks Moreland #60 on the list of the greatest Cubs of all time).
