I woke up this morning rather stunned to hear that we're supposed to have a high temperature of 64 degrees on Thanksgiving. I thought it was supposed to be cold here (it's warmer here than where I grew up, a few hundred miles southeast); it's so pleasant today I couldn't help but wonder how rare that is.

It's pretty unusual. NOAA has a helpful breakdown of Thanksgiving weather in Chicago; today will push our recorded weather history into double-digit 60-degree-plus days.

The all-time high temperatures for Thanksgiving and today's date are 69 degrees in 1966 and 67 in 2010. We're on pace to tie the second warmest Thanksgiving, set in 1914, and just pass the third warmest (1915). A low of 36, on the other hand, would be perfectly normal.
