Openings
The Lincoln Square location of Roots Handmade Pizza (2200 W. Lawrence Ave., 773-433-5959) was a long time coming, but it’s finally here, bringing Quad Cities–style pizza with a malt dough to the North Side.
With Roots comes the opening of sister spot the Sixth (same address as above), a cocktail bar from Berkshire Room bartender Benjamin Schiller that’s heavy on the whimsy–look for a multicolored concoction inspired by Trix cereal.
Suburban favorite Ramen Misoya (213 E. Ohio St., Streeterville) has made its debut within city limits, with bowls of noodles in miso broths perfect for ramen-friendly weather.
Morsels
Just in time for New Year’s Day, Buck’s (1700 W. Division, Wicker Park, 773-384-9700) is adding a streamlined brunch to its slate of offerings. The menu is based around an egg-and-cheese biscuit that you can add bacon or sausage to, along with a few other options and plenty of cocktails.
