March is the appropriate month for that most Irish of desserts, a beloved minty green milkshake known as the Shamrock Shake.

DMK Burger Bar (2954 N. Sheffield Ave., Lake View, 773-360-8686; 2370 Fountain Square Dr., Lombard, 630-705-9020) is in on the St. Patrick's Day dessert action, with a Shamrock Shake available for $5 all month at both locations. It starts out with mint chocolate chip ice cream, which gets blended with spoonfuls of Lucky Charms, leaving little pockets of hearts, stars, horseshoes, and the rest of the magically delicious marshmallows as you sip and spoon.

It's sure to become a St. Patty's tradition, just as our Irish ancestors dreamed we'd celebrate it.
