Good news, noodle junkies: There's going to be a second home for Wicker Park ramen shop Furious Spoon (2410 N. Milwaukee, Logan Square, no phone yet) opening early next year. And it's going to be quite the upsizing.
Thanks to a 70-seat interior and 100-seat outdoor patio (formerly El Charro), Furious Spoon's Logan Square shop will fit many more people than the original spot in Wicker Park, where chef Shin Thompson (Kabocha, Bonsoirée) opened to riotous hype and long wait-times in February. Thompson will introduce late-night karaage (a form of Japanese fried chicken) and, in the summertime, barbecued yakitori (basically Japanese shish kabobs).
Furious Spoon's drink program will also balloon thanks to a full bar. Paulina Echavarri (Bar Takito) will work up a menu of Japanese craft cocktails, and Thompson plans to introduce Japanese beers and "a good selection of Japanese whiskey" to his drink list. Past that, he'll opt to not fix what isn't broken. The menu will be very similar, he says, which, for you, means more expertly crafted noodle bowls.
