The birthday cake shake will be at DMK Burger Bar all month, starting Wednesday. Maybe you were born in May. Maybe not. Just go for it.
Monday–Thursday, 4/29–5/2: Drop a dime (per dollar) at Dunlays on Clark (2600 N. Clark St., 773-883-6000), where all menu items cost 10 percent less in honor of the restaurant’s 10-year anniversary.
Tuesday, 4/30: This is your (maybe only) chance to have a “metaphysical wine dinner” hosted by La Sirena Clandestina (954 W. Fulton Market, 312-226-5300). After a wine seminar at the nearby Cream Wine Tasting Room with the winemaker Abe Schoener, whose Scholium Project experiments with idiosyncratic and one-of-a-kind vineyards, the action moves to the restaurant for a four-course, $100 tasting menu paired with Schoener’s rare wines.
Wednesday, 5/1: DMK Burger Bar (2954 N. Sheffield Ave., 773-360-8686) is introducing a new Number 15 burger. The O is a grass-fed beef burger with queso fresco, red-onion relish, avocado, tomato, and three-chili ketchup. Also debuting May 1: The birthday-cake shake (above). Indulgent, sure, but at least 100 percent of the shake proceeds benefit Perspectives Charter School.
Friday, 5/3: Miniaturize your Mexican celebration at Lincoln Park’s Taco Joint (1969 N. Halsted St., 312-951-2457), where mini margarita doughnuts from Glazed and Infused are available (three for $6, six for $10) on Friday (and the wee hours of Saturday) from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday, 5/4: Don a floppy hat for Derby Day at American Junkie (15 W. Illinois St., 312-239-0995). Chef Kendal Duque has created a limited Kentucky Derby menu with pork belly sliders and flatbreads and, of course, mint juleps ($8). Souvenir cups ($50) benefit the no-kill pet shelter PAWS Chicago.
Saturday, 5/4: Tap in at the Wicker Park Bucktown TAP Beer Fest at Dolphin (2200 N. Ashland Ave., 773-750-8090). The $35 admission ($45 at the door) buys 10 six-ounce beer pours from the 18 participating bars, as well as food and live music.
Sunday, 5/5: Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with $1 chicken, steak, shrimp, or fish tacos from Tokio Pub (1900 E. Higgins Rd., Schaumburg, 847-278-5181), from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
