For a certain segment, when it comes to the canon of movies set in the Chicago region, 2004's Mean Girls (which takes place in the North Shore and includes references to the Walker Brothers' pancake house and Old Orchard Mall) is sacrosanct. Which is why on the 10th anniversary of the movie's theatrical release, Kit Kat Lounge & Supper Club (3700 N. Halsted St., Wrigleyville, 773-525-1111) decided to throw a big brunch party, complete with non-stop screenings, themed cocktails, and drag-queen diva Madam X performing in the guise of appropriately bitchy pop stars.
Mimosas and "On Wednesdays We Wear Pink" cocktails (named for an oft-quoted line from the movie and garnished with a pink glow stick) flowed freely between Madam X's interactive serenades as Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato, and every corner of the restaurant was packed with pink-clad movie fans.
Here's what we saw when we swung by.
