Packing House (1113 W. Randolph St., West Loop) has taken over the spot previously occupied by Market—and when we swung by the soft-open bar this weekend, it looked completely different from its predecessor.
A dividing wall between the dining room and bar has come down, making the space feel far airier. A smattering of LCD TVs inset into the walls display a rotating selection of abstract paintings. And an indoor-outdoor bar on the ground level allows patrons to flow freely between the lounge and a patio area while they sip their Packing House Palomas (tequila, tarragon essence, grapefruit juice, and blood orange San Pellegrino).
When Packing House settles into its schedule, it'll eventually open up a rooftop deck and second floor as well, allowing 360-degree views of the city in time for summer revelry. In the meantime, though, here's what to expect if you stop in.
