Openings

• Saturday, 8/2: Brendan Sodikoff’s Jewish deli, Dillman’s (354 W. Hubbard St., 312-988-0078), is now open Tuesdays through Saturdays for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Morning to-go service for coffee and bagels started today, and Sunday brunch will be added in September. You can also check out our staff’s first bite of the corned beef sandwich and whitefish terrine. Spoiler alert: We loved it.

• Friday, 8/9: The new luxury hotel Langham Chicago opens its restaurant this week. Travelle (330 N. Wabash St., 312-923-9988) is a Mediterranean-inspired concept from chef Tim Graham (Tru, Paris Club). The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch; it also features a cocktail bar and lounge menu.

• Monday, 8/12: Taking a trip to Peru will be as easy as grabbing dinner at Tanta (118 W. Grand Ave., 312-222-9700). A collaborative effort between Gastón Acurio and Veronica and Vincent Beckman, the restaurant boasts a menu of classic Peruvian cuisine such as seviche, empanadas, and the famous Pisco Sour cocktail.

Morsels

The bar-to-be formerly known as Prindiville, from the impresario Russ Grant (Simone’s, Boiler Room), has been rechristened East Room (2354 N. Milwaukee Ave., no phone available). The ersatz speakeasy—with an entrance around the corner at 2828 West Medill Avenue—will not serve food, unlike Grant’s other upcoming Milwaukee Avenue project, Parts and Labor.

Marigold (5413 N. Clark St., 773-989-4300) diehards, this is your last chance to enjoy a meal at the popular Andersonville spot. After seven years and two locations, the Indian restaurant is closing after dinner service this Sunday, August 11. The owners will focus more on their fast casual restaurant, Masala by Marigold, as well as their line of packaged food products.

Looking for an excuse to eat dessert? Local sweet shop Katherine Anne Confections (2745 W. Armitage Ave., 773-727-3248) has added a sandwich and salad menu. Prices range from $9-$11; ingredients will change depending on availability and seasonality.

Anglophiles rejoice: An authentic English tearoom is now open in Long Grove. High Tea with Gerri (144 Old McHenry Rd., Long Grove, 847-948-1724) is open every day from noon to 4 p.m., serving finger sandwiches and petite pastries amongst Victorian decor. Owner Gerri Gwarnicki is an Irish native who honed her teatime skills during culinary training in London.

Those planning to attend Bon Appétit presents Chicago Gourmet can purchase tickets to the kickoff events starting tomorrow. Passes for the Hamburger Hop are $115, and the new Late Night Gourmet event costs $50. There is also a special to purchase both together for $150. Sale starts at 10 a.m. August 8 on the festival’s website.

Ready Coffee (1562 N. Milwaukee Ave., 773-360-7041) transforms its ORNOT Gallery into a yoga studio every Saturday for free yoga sessions. Classes are offered at 9 and 11 a.m.

A lunchtime flight of three panini sandwiches is now available at The Florentine (151 W. Adams St., 312-660-8866) for $14. The special, in honor of National Panini Month, will run through the end of August. To wash it down, guests can also order a craft beer flight for $7.
