Openings

Open now: Chef Kevin Hickey’s love letter to his Bridgeport childhood, Duck Inn (2701 S. Eleanor St., 312-724-8811), is fancy in the back room (tasting menus, rotisserie duck for two) and a bar party in the front.

Open now: You can finally check in at White Oak Tavern & Inn (1200 W. Webster Ave., Lincoln Park, 773-525-6670), the gastropub reboot of this location of John’s Place—and yes, there is actual lodging upstairs.

Open now: GRK Greek Kitchen’s third location (111 W. Monroe St., Loop, 312-877-5070) is now slinging customizable pitas and a Greek yogurt bar (with original and frozen versions available for DIY topping).

Morsels

We here at Chicago are shameless lovers of a good brunch—which is why we’ll now be posting a weekly review of our favorite weekend meal every Thursday. The first two rundowns, A10 and Big Jones, went up last week. Look for a new review tomorrow.

Because why go outside if you don’t actually have to, La Sirena Clandestina (954 W. Fulton Market, West Loop, 312-226-5300) is now offering weekday lunchtime delivery through the website Caviar (think a slightly fancier version of GrubHub).

It’s the holiday (doughnut) season at Firecakes (68 W. Hubbard St., River North, 312-329-6500), and the shop is proffering both Yuletide and Hanukkah-friendly treats now through the end of the month. Pick from flavors such as peppermint bark, egg nog, and sugar cookie or go for sufganiyot, a traditional Israeli jelly-filled version. The doughnuts run slightly smaller than Firecakes’ typical offerings and are priced at $1.95 a pop.

Happy first birthday, Analogue (2523 N. Milwaukee Ave., Logan Square, 773-904-8567)! The craft cocktail bar will be throwing a bash Thursday night to celebrate both its initial year in operation and its new drink menu—the evening’s slate includes $5 chicken sandwiches from chef Alfredo Nogueira, DJ sets, and $2 Bud drafts.
