Coming down from Uptown, Ceres’ Table has found a new home in Lake View (3124 N. Broadway, 773-935-4000), in the space vacated by Frog N Snail. The original location on Clark Street closed in December; its reincarnation is pegged for April.
Ceres' was isolated at 4882 N. Clark St., a low-foot-traffic retail nether-region south of Andersonville’s main drag. That's in the past—along with the noise of the old dining room. “It’s not even an issue here. There are soundproofing tiles in the ceilings,” says Caryn Struif, now a partner with chef/owner Giuseppe Scurato.
There will be a new wood-burning pizza oven and a station for carpaccios and seafood crudos, along with a concomitant increase in menu items meant to share. With the shifted focus from the new menu items, the cost of a dinner will likely come down slightly.
What remains unchanged is the Italian orientation, Leticia Zenteno on desserts, and certain menu items, such as the arancini. “I can’t take it off the menu. People will try to kill me,” Scurato says. “I tried to take it off once, and everyone was so upset.” If you know one of these unhinged arancini-lovers, please try to get them to hold it together until April.
