There's nothing too flashy about Commonwealth Tavern (2000 Roscoe St., 773-697-7965), Roscoe Village's newest sports bar, and that's precisely the point.
Instead, it's meant to be a comfy spot to hang, snacking on fries and wings and swigging craft beers while catching a game. The walls are covered in both Chicago and American historical memorabilia, the bar itself is made of reclaimed bowling alley wood, and there are plenty of good TV-viewing vantage points.
Basically, it's exactly the bar you want in your neighborhood. And on a recent chilly Saturday night, everyone in the neighborhood wanted to be there, from shirt-and-jacket diners to sweater-clad Hawks fans.
