Open now: Pompei took a two-year break from Lake View, but it’s officially back in the space last occupied by City Dough (2955 N. Sheffield Ave.) with pizza and pasta.

Hot dog! For one day only, beloved bun-slinger Doug Sohn will resurrect Hot Doug’s, sort of. On Saturday, May 16, the Paulina Meat Market (3501 N. Lincoln Ave., Lake View, 773-248-6272) will put on a Hot Doug’s Appreciation Day, and they’ll run an outdoor grill to cook some of the sausages that they produced for the restaurant when it was still in operation. Though Sohn won’t be cooking, per the Tribune, he will be around to mingle. And if you can’t hold out that long for your encased meats fix, plan a visit to Piece (1927 W. North Ave., Wicker Park, 773-772-4422) sometime in March. They’re collaborating with Sohn on a charity pie to benefit Pilot Light, and their Atomic Pizza will feature his Atomic Bomb sausage, pepperjack, and caramelized onions.

After the surprising news that chef Nick Lacasse had parted ways with MFK (432 W. Diversey Pkwy., Lincoln Park, 773-857-2540), the seafood restaurant that recently nabbed a spot on GQ’s 25 Most Outstanding Restaurants list, there’s news that he’ll step into the kitchen at cocktail bar Celeste (111 W. Hubbard St., River North, 312-828-9000) as a consultant before taking over the kitchen at the forthcoming Half Acre Beer Co. brewery and restaurant.
