Openings

• Monday, 7/8: Wrigleyville welcomes the third location of Mexican taqueria Flaco’s Tacos (3530 N. Clark St., 773-975-8226). The counter service spot will serve made-from-scratch tacos, tortas, and tamales and feature a full bar.

• Monday, 7/8: Rest easy, “L” riders, your morning bagel stop is back. After closing due to a fire last September, the Belmont location of Chicago Bagel Authority (955 W. Belmont, 773-549-1982) has reopened. It will be operating with the same menu and hours as before.

• Wednesday, 7/10: Farmhouse Evanston (703 Church St., Evanston, 847-492-9700), the craft tavern’s northern suburb arm, is open for dinner, with plans to expand into lunch, weekend brunch service, and patio seating in the upcoming weeks. The larger location will allow for an expanded menu while keeping the same local ingredients and Midwest flavors as the original River North location.

• Thursday, 7/11: DMK’s newest restaurant, County Barbeque (1352 W. Taylor St., 312-929-2528), is a nod to the comforts of Southern cooking. Menu items like fried green tomatoes and crispy hominy highlight home-style staples. Meat lovers will enjoy the variety of hickory-smoked cuts, including Texas Brisket, Kansas City burnt ends, pork shank, and options from the bacon bar.

Morsels

Finally, wine and brunch are coming together at Avec (615 W. Randolph, 312-377-2002). Beginning July 21, the wine-focused restaurant will open for brunch between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The new menu will include items like a Spanish-style French toast called torrejas and roasted hanger steak topped with a fried egg. Between brunch and dinner hours, guests can sip Avec's wines or cocktails at the bar.

Vive la Révolution! In honor of Bastille Day and its French roots, Bistronomic (840 N. Wabash Ave., 312-944-8400) is serving a three-course prix fixe menu from July 8 to July 14. The $30 menu includes the bistro's special blue, white, and red baked Alaska, a dessert representing the colors of the French flag.

The La Grange location of Prasino (93 S. La Grange Rd., La Grange, 708-469-7058) has a new executive chef. Lonnie Liming has worked at restaurants in Cleveland, Colorado, and California, including Wolfgang Puck's Postrio in San Francisco, where he was executive sous chef.

Lincoln Park will soon say bonjour to the second location of La Fournette. The French bakery will bring its bread and pastries to 2468 N. Clark in August. Until then, you’ll have to ride your bike over to the N. Wells Street location for those fresh baguettes.

In celebration of their new delivery option, Brooklyn-style pizzeria Flour & Stone (355 E. Ohio St., 312-822-8998) will shuttle its thin crust pizzas to your door free of charge for the month of July.
