Monday, 7/15: As a reminder that summer is halfway over, The Palm (323 E. Wacker Dr., 312-616-0000) is holding specials for Midway Lobster Day. Grab a Nova Scotia lobster slider for only $1 or go all in with a jumbo Nova Scotia lobster dinner for $45.
Monday, 7/15: In honor of their one-year anniversary, Hash House A Go Go (1212 N. State St., 312-202-0994) will offer an all-day dollar menu from July 15 to the 28th. The “Beers, Biscuits & Sweet Bites” menu includes PBR cans, house-made biscuits, bread pudding, cheesecake, and a chocolate chip waffle.
Monday, 7/15: In addition to their weekly half-price cocktail Monday, Café Ba-Ba-Reeba! (2024 N. Halsted St., 773-935-5000) spices things up tonight with a Flamenco dinner show. Starting at 7 p.m. musical troupe ‘Cuadro “El Payo”’ will perform as guests enjoy Spanish tapas and discount drinks.
Tuesday, 7/16: Nicksons Eatery (30 S. La Grange Rd., La Grange, 708-354-4995) presents Lobster Fest. Enjoy four days of live music and specials on lobster rolls, chowder, whole lobster dinners, and even a lobster martini. The festival ends on Saturday with the Lobster Bash party in Nickson’s alley.
Tuesday, 7/16: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why not have five courses of it, complete with beer pairings, for dinner? This is the theme Trenchermen (2039 W. North Ave., 773-661-1540) chose for their turn in the Chicago Foodies’ “Unique Dinner Series”, which encourages chefs to get creative and push their culinary comfort zone. The $125 tickets can be reserved online, dinner starts at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, 7/17: In preparation for Chicago Gourmet food festival, Bon Appétit magazine, along with the Illinois Restaurant Association, has organized a series of wine & spirits dinners. Stop by South Water Kitchen (225 N. Wabash Ave., 312-236-9300) for a five-course wine-pairing meal from chef Roger Waysock. The menu’s “summer heat” theme will spotlight the season’s most refreshing flavors. Dinner starts at 7 p.m., tickets are $55 and can be reserved at (312) 236-9300.
Wednesday, 7/17: In honor of the upcoming Belgian Independence Day (July 21), Franklin Tap (325 S. Franklin, 312-212-3262) will host a Belgian beer sampling from Duvel Moortgat Brewery. From 5 to 7 p.m. guests who buy Duvel single drafts ($7) or bottles ($9) will receive a painted glass from Brooklyn artist Mike Perry. Duvel Moortgat USA representative Tom Gardener will pour samples and discuss the methods of creating Belgian beer.
Wednesday, 7/17: Satisfy your sweet tooth at D.O.C. Wine Bar’s (2062 N. Clark St., 773-883-5101) cupcakes and wine pairing night. For $30 enjoy four gourmet pastries from Molly’s Cupcakes, each one paired with a wine selected by the corporate chef Kevin Ives. The event starts at 6 p.m.
Thursday, 7/18: Join Chicago History Museum’s Greatest Dives pub crawl and hit up some of the city’s classic gin joints. The tour goes from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and will stop into four or five bars to discuss the background of homemade liquor and, of course, partake in libations. Tickets are $40, $35 for museum members, and can be reserved online.
Friday, 7/19: 2 Sparrows (553 Diversey Pkwy., 773-234-2320) starts the weekend off right with its annual pig roast. For $35 enjoy a family-style dinner of Catalpa Grove roast pork, wedge salad, mac and cheese, corn fritters, baked beans, and peach cobbler. Dinner starts at 7 p.m.
Saturday, 7/20: To express their excitement for the upcoming football season, Lottie’s Pub (1925 W. Cortland St., 773-489-0738) will host a Wisconsin Appreciation Pig Roast at 2 p.m. for $12 per person. Badger fans can chow down on a whole smoked and cured hog along with sides of baked beans, potato salad and slaw. 22-ounce Miller and Coors cups will be on special for $4.
Sunday, 7/21: Celebrate National Ice Cream Day at Allium (Four Seasons Hotel, 120 E. Delaware Pl., 312-649-2349). From 3 to 6 p.m guests can buy three scoops of ice cream for $5 or a signature milkshake for $4. Pastry chef Scott Gerken has created special flavors for the event such as banana curry, blood orange thyme, and 90% pure chocolate.
