The dudes behind laidback Logan Square German spot the Radler have gone even more laidback with their sister restaurant, DAS (2855 W. Fullerton Ave., Logan Square). This time, the focus is on fast-casual doner kebabs (easy-to-eat street meat sandwiches that run for $8 a pop) and a few side options.

Ampersand Wine Bar (4845 N. Damen Ave., Ravenswood, 773-728-0031) comes in with a serious pedigree. Its team includes former Charlie Trotter’s head pastry chef Darren McGraw and iNG executive chef Tim Havidic. The space is completely renovated and sleek. And wines start at $6 a glass.

The updates to Logan Square’s Crown Liquors (2821 N. Milwaukee Ave., 773-252-9741) may make it the hottest “slashie” in town. The longtime liquor store now has plenty of seating, 24 rotating beers on tap, and, best of all, “hot dice,” a game where what you roll determines the liquor you’ll receive.

News from the Lula Cafe (2357 N. Kedzie Ave., Logan Square, 773-489-9554) kitchens: Sarah Rinkavage is now the spot’s chef de cuisine. Rinkavage has been with the restaurant since 2010 and has been the guiding force behind the popular Monday night three-course farm dinner series. And Kelly Helgesen takes over as pastry chef—you can credit her for sweets at both dinner and brunch.
