Yes, this is short notice, but it’s for a good cause—chefs Michael Taus (Taus Authentic), Jimmy Papadopoulos (Bohemian House), Michael Kornick (MK), and Chris Anderson (Moto) will work together to produce a multi-course meal at Taus Authentic (1846 W. Shake things up at CH Distillery (564 W. Randolph St., West Loop, 312-707-8780) with guest bartender Owen Worley of nearby Tête Charcuterie, who will be mixing up two original cocktails that each cost $11. His bar tenure begins at 8 p.m. and runs through midnight.
Thursday, July 16
Have someone else fire up the grill for this year’s Green City Market Chef BBQ (1817 N. Clark St., Lincoln Park), where more than 100 Chicago restaurants will serve up samples of eats made with ingredients gathered at the market. General admission tickets run for $125—pick up yours here.
Saturday, July 18
Spend Saturday down on Mint Creek Farm for a tour of the place as well as a dinner prepped by Sarah Rinkavage, Lula Café chef de cuisine, using Mint Creek meat and produce from Three Plaid Farmers. The meal will be prepared and eaten at the Greenhouse Bed and Breakfast (3606 N. 1700E Rd., Kempton, 815-253-9020), also the meeting point for the meal, which costs $75 for adults that aren’t already members of the farm’s CSA. I scream, you scream, we all scream for free ice cream at Nonna’s (925 W. Randolph St., West Loop, 312-690-7323) all day today (which is apparently National Ice Cream Day)—grab a gratis scoop of a flavor such as salted caramel or raspberry swirl until supplies run out.
