Tuesday 6/25:
Public House (400 N. State St., 312-265-1240) partnered with Lagunitas Brewing Co. for this month’s beer pairing dinner. The $60 ticket includes a five-course menu created by Public House’s culinary team to compliment the strong flavors Lagunitas is known for.
It’s a good old-fashioned crawfish boil at Fish Bar (2956 N. Sheffield Ave, 773-687-8177) this week. From June 25th to July 1st, Fish Bar will offer a Louisiana-style pile of crawfish, andouille sausage, sweet corn, and new potatoes, all for $20.
Support Northwestern’s prostate cancer research program at Gale Street Inn’s (4914 N. Milwaukee Ave., 773-725-1300) “Ribbin & Blues” event. The rib-centric restaurant teamed with Smoque BBQ, Wrigley BBQ, Lagunitas, and Wichita Packing Company for a night of barbecue, beer, and live blues music from 6-9 p.m. Tickets are $50, all of which will be donated to the research program.
Thursday, 6/27:
Ever dreamed of eating in the opulence of the Titanic’s first-class dining room? Inovasi (28 E. Center Ave., Lake Bluff, 847-295-1000) will transform itself into the luxury liner Thursday evening, swapping out regular dinner décor for china and stemware from 1912. Guests are encouraged to “dress the part” at this 10-12 course dinner modeled after the original meals served on board. The hefty ticket price of $220 might be worth it for this one-time, black tie event. Call Inovasi for reservations.
Friday, 6/28:
Chicago’s Techweek goes gastro at the Food Truck Face Off, an event spotlighting how foot-traffic businesses successfully use social media. Brand BBQ, The Fat Shallot, Jerk312, and Ice-Cubed are just a few of the confirmed trucks. Show up at the south drive of the Merchandise Mart from 6 – 9 p.m. to sample and vote for your favorite fare. There's more: Here are 18 awesome food trucks you might see there.
Just in time for the rising temperatures of summer, National Ceviche Day at Nacional 27 (325 W. Huron St., 312-664-2727) will provide some much-needed refreshment. Ceviches are half-off from 5 to 7 p.m. in the lounge and on the patio, guests will also receive complimentary spirit samples of Pisco Portion with ceviche orders from 5 p.m. to midnight; the ahi tuna and watermelon and Hawaiian red snapper ceviches sound particularly promising.
Saturday, 6/29:
Standard Market will start Independence Day celebrations early with AMERICAFEST. Stop by from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for carnival food such as fried cheese curds, pie in a jar, and boozy snow cones. Bring the kids by for face painting and carnival games. Vendors will offer tastings inside the market as entertainment from The Actor’s Gymnasium and live musicians perform outside. Don’t miss the cooking demonstration from Kevin Ives (The Smoke Daddy) at 12:30 p.m.
Sunday, 6/30:
Socca (3301 N. Clark St., 773-248-1155) will close at the end of June and reopen in July as Hutch, the new concept of owner Marc Wuenschel. Before the doors shut, though, Socca will throw a farewell party with complimentary appetizers, drinks and a preview of Hutch’s menu. Say goodbye to this popular Lakeview restaurant from 4 to 8 p.m.
