Expand your cheese horizons at Tru (676 N. St. Clair St., Streeterville, 312-202-0001), where from 5:30 to 7 p.m. they’ll offer nine French and French-style cheeses (including Abbaye de Citeaux, a cheese from Burgundy that’s especially difficult to come by) paired with several beverage tastes. The event costs $60; call the restaurant to secure a spot.

Friday, June 24

Raise a glass to one year of Ampersand Wine Bar (4845 N. Damen Ave., Ravenswood, 773-728-0031) during its Amperbash, a neighborhood walking tour with ample refreshments. Nearby businesses, like the new Bang Bang Pie Shop outlet and Amy’s Candy Bar, will have sips and bites on hand to celebrate. Tickets are $30 here.

Saturday, June 25

A food-festival option for this weekend: the Chicago Food Truck Fest at McCormick Place (2200 S. Indiana Ave., South Loop), with more than 50 mobile food vendors on hand to share their wares. Admission to the fest is free, though you’ll still need a ticket to get in.

Feeling more like a music-and-food-fest combo? Maybe Rachael Ray’s Feedback, taking place at Lincoln Park Zoo (2001 N. Clark St.), is more your speed. Your basic ticket includes tastes of a few Rachael-created dishes to consume while you watch sets from Grace Potter and Lee Fields & the Expressions.

Or, if you’d rather spend what looks to be a very toasty Saturday drinking indoors, you can do that at Crown Liquors (2821 N. Milwaukee Ave., Logan Square, 773-252-9741), which will host eight local breweries for a mini beer fest starting at 1 p.m. The crews from Pipeworks, Aquanut, and others will be available to serve samples, and your $30 ticket gets you ten tasting pours.
