Monday, March 2
It’s March, finally, which means maybe it’s time to step away from the hibernation fare and start looking at something a little lighter come mealtime. Lyfe Kitchen (413 N. Clark St., River North, 312-836-5933; 1603 Orrington Ave., Evanston, 847-563-8242) will have different samples of some of their healthy fare every day this week—today’s is of their margarita flatbread.
Wednesday, March 4
Attention Hopslam fans—if you’ve been searching for the stuff, pencil in a visit to Tuman’s Tap & Grill (2159 W. Chicago Ave., West Town, 773-782-1400) today for a Bell’s Brewery tap takeover. They’ve reserved a few barrels of the 2015 releases of the stuff just for the occasion—the occasion being to celebrate another hard-to-find Bell’s release, a brown ale called Le Contrebassiste.
In honor of Chicago’s 178th birthday, tuck into a five-course dinner at Trenchermen (2039 W. North Ave., Wicker Park, 773-661-1540) inspired by the city’s flag—one for each star and another for the blue-and-white stripes. Pick up a $75 ticket here.
Thursday, March 5
Because why have one brewery’s beer when you can have five, Two (1132 W. Grand Ave., West Town, 312-634-8363) is going all out for a beer dinner this week. Multiple Midwestern sudsmakers, including Solemn Oath, Brewery Vivant, and Perennial Artisan Ales, will be matched with one of five courses for a meal that starts at 6 p.m. with an hour of samplings and tastings. Call the restaurant to make a reservation for the $70 meal.
Sunday, March 8
If you’ve already made your peace with eating breakfast for dinner, brunch for dinner is the next logical step. You can, in fact, make that happen at BellyQ (1400 W. Randolph St., West Loop, 312-563-1010) during a cooking demo from chef Bill Kim at 6 p.m. You’ll learn how to make (and get to taste) several meal-spanning dishes, including a nori waffle, a Vietnamese omelet with quinoa and feta, and banana shakes. Buy $50 tickets here.
