Open now: The reincarnation of Ceres’ Table (3124 N. Broadway, Lake View, 773-922-4020) has officially taken over the former home of Frog N Snail. We talked with partners Caryn Struif and Giuseppe Scurato about their plans for their big move from Uptown earlier this year.
Open now: Another day, another Italian spot—this time, it’s Osteria Langhe (2824 W. Armitage Ave., Logan Square, 773-661-1582) in the former Brand BBQ space.
Thursday, May 8: The first Chicago outpost of Le Pain Quotidien (135 N. Clinton St., West Loop, 312-234-0900) will begin baking up bread for its signature tartines this week.
Friday, May 9: Laughing Bird (4514 N. Lincoln Ave., Lincoln Square, 773-506-2473) will start serving the Filipino classics of chef Chrissy Camba’s childhood, from chicken adobo to halo halo. It’s one of former Tank Sushi owner Franco Gianni’s two restaurant projects in the works.

The James Beard Foundation handed out its Restaurant and Chef Awards on Monday, and a few Chicago names won big.
- Jimmy Banos, Jr., of the Purple Pig shared the award for Rising Star Chef in the awards’ first-ever tie
- Dave Beran won Best Chef: Great Lakes for Next
- Lawton Stanley Architects won a restaurant design award for their work at Grace
Do you love the Blackhawks so much you could eat them? Now you can, kind of! Punky’s Pizza & Pasta (2600 S. Wallace St., Bridgeport, 312=842-2100) has added a Blackhawk logo-shaped pizza that’s heavy on the olives to their menu on playoff game days. It retails for $18.95.
As of noon today, the reservation list is open at Brandon Baltzley’s foray into Native-American-inspired eating based out of an Indiana farm, TMIP Restaurant (8734 W. 400 N., Michigan City, 219-814-4930). The restaurant is slated to open later this summer.
