First food trucks, now take-out windows? Apparently, Chicagoans are perfecting dinner on the go. Edgar Castaneda, the restaurateur who helped popularize Latin small plates in Chicago at Zocalo, has plans for a twist on the fast-food walk-up window in Lincoln Park at the aptly-named Taco Joint Urban Taqueria and Cantina (1969 N. Halsted St.; 312-951-2457). The Mexican street fare, such as flautas-and-salsa combos like braised beef brisket with cilantro, onion and roasted red jalapeño salsa—will be available by mid- to late-November. When the liquor license has been secured (Castaneda’s hoping for mid-December), patrons will be able to dine in with a roof over their heads and margaritas in their hands.
