A rainy Saturday evening seemed like the ideal time to belly up for a pint and some comfort food at North Center’s newest Irish gastropub.
The handsomely appointed Monty Gaels (4356 N. Leavitt St., 773-279-4900) hosted a low-key crowd during our visit: Many were there to fill their bellies with braised short ribs with whipped potatoes and roasted cauliflower. Others stuck to the liquid offerings, which include roughly 20 brews and a handful of specialty cocktails.
Although the Saturday night vibe was mellow, we’re told Sundays get a bit more rowdy when the football-watching crowd rolls in.
