Bordel (1721 W. Division St., Wicker Park) has its concept on lock. The new cocktail bar/speakeasy, tucked above Black Bull via an unmarked door and a red stairwell, is going for that whole Left Bank bohemian vibe—red velvet, torn vintage wallpaper, slightly racy sketches and posters adorning the walls, and an intimate space to sip old-school cocktails and watch flamenco trios.
Daniel Alonso (Black Bull, Fulton Market Kitchen) has created a seriously sexy spot here, and the drinks are equally alluring—take, for instance, a Ramos Gin Fizz that gets shaken by hand for what seems like an eternity to get a tower of froth on top. Grab one before a show—Wednesdays are for jazz, Thursdays for bossa nova, and Fridays and Saturdays for flamenco. It's a cozy, lively, late-night party.
Here's what we saw when we swung by Saturday.
