The 1/2 part of 1952 1/2 Liquorette's (1952 N. Damen Ave., Bucktown) could just as easily refer to the bar's size as it does its tucked-away location in the back of Charlie McKenna's new Southern spot Dixie. This place is pretty tiny: just six bar seats plus a smattering of couches, chairs, and cocktail tables. But what it lacks in space, it makes up for with an abundance of charm.

The cocktails err on the side of fancy, with a spirits list that includes plenty of older and rarer bottles of whiskey, and said cocktails are largely ordered by people craving a nightcap post-dinner at Dixie. But if you can find a seat, there's room for just about anyone.
