What I’m Doing This Weekend

Up next in our series of weekend plans from notable, in-the-know locals—a.k.a. people we like: Project Onward associate director and artist Melody Williams. The Cardboard Show takes place at the Bridgeport Art Center from November 15–27.

“So Friday night is the Cardboard Show, which I’ve been helping out with for the past few years. The tenets of the show are that art should be affordable and fun. It’s a cash-and-carry opening. Then I’m going to hop on my bike and ride over to Co Prosperity Sphere. They have a show called Level Eater 3.5; it’s a fantasy art show. I think there’s lots of Dungeons and Dragons artwork.

“Saturday, we’re having a cardboard portrait slam. It’s an all day event with twelve artists who do on-the-spot portraits on cardboard. Then I’m going to run over to Pilsen to Cobalt Studio. They are having a closing reception for a show I want to see. I might try out the bar Punch House afterwards. The one time I tried to go, they were just packed. I think I’m more prepared for the lines now.

“Sunday, I usually go to Icoseium Kafé; it’s an Algerian creperie. Last time I was there, I had a date and brie crepe with honey. They also have Turkish coffee, which is awesome.
