River North has seen a flood of gastropub openings in recent weeks, but one place’s shtick piqued our interest enough to take a gander on Saturday night: At Central Standard, both the drinks and the eats pay homage to the tastes of our time zone.
Think Sazeracs (a classic New Orleans cocktail), a Cherry Collins featuring fruit from Michigan, and stick-to-your-ribs fare. The crowd was sparse (perhaps people were resting up for an intense morning of Easter egg hunting?), making the scene in the industrial-chic space seem a bit low-key.
But perhaps all this place needs in order to catch on is, well, time.
