With so many craft cocktail bars opening in the past year, the Ukrainian Village’s Fame has found ways to take the popular trend to new levels. Antonio Ballatore (winner of HGTV’s Design Star) decorated the part lounge bar, part gallery with street-art style from artists around the country. The garage door opens up to an attached street-side patio and a fun, random mix of music plays at a low volume, making this spot an easy place to spend a few hours.
Chef Sammy DeMarco helped design the menu with what he calls American tapas—we tried the beef carpaccio on potato beer bread, topped with melted mushrooms, truffle aioli, cheese, and arugula. The drink menu is all about infusions, including garlic/habanero vodka, pineapple tequila, brown-sugar-bacon bourbon, and more. We tasted a seasonal Twisted Pisco Sour, made with pisco infused with roasted granny smith apples and brown sugar.
A nice drink menu, really good food, and a chill vibe all make Fame a pleasant break from the run-of-the-mill craft lounges. Here are some photos of our recent visit.
