There’s been a boom in building downtown luxury apartments recently, and you can tell why when you’re at a building like AMLI River North. You’ve got the entire city spread out right outside your building.
But you may not even want to leave the building. On the twelfth floor, AMLI has created an array of amenity spaces that provide all sorts of opportunities for relaxation and entertainment—and that includes dogs; there’s even a rooftop dog park. Whether indoors or out, there’s an awful lot do here.
Want to watch a movie? There’s a large outdoor flat-screen, surrounded by tons of room to relax and bask in the sun (when there is any). On a crisp fall night, you can enjoy an outdoor fire in a lounging area, dining “room,” or a fire pit. When summer comes back, you’ll be able to go for a swim in the stainless steel pool and sun yourself in one of a row of cabanas.
There’s even a rooftop herb garden for everyone in the building to use. Still sprouting when we shot our video there pre-frost last week were golden sage, arugula, chives, and mojito mint, which would come in handy for mixing cocktails a few steps away in the outdoor kitchen, or little farther away in the indoor, entertainment-sized kitchen.
The 50-story building has 409 apartments; those on the uppermost floors are being finished now. Jennifer Wolf, AMLI’s senior vice president for development, explains that those floors, 45 to 50, will contain penthouse units. The differences between them and the already-available standard apartments, she says is, “you get an unprecedented finish package, you get fabulous views, you get a technology package and higher ceilings.” Those apartments will be available in mid-November.
Residents of all the floors, penthouse or not, get to take advantage of all those luxurious amenities on the twelfth floor. Wolf explained that her firm sees the amenities as “an extension of people’s living space. It creates a community for all our residents.” As you’ll see in the video, we spoke in a large formal dining room. Renters in the building wouldn’t have such a large entertainment room in their own apartments, but could avail themselves of it “for a meeting or a private dining party,” Wolf says. “It’s already been reserved for Thanksgiving dinner this year.”
After that big meal, you might want to work out at the fitness center, on one of a number of treadmills and fitness machines, at the yoga and Pilates studio, or get in a round of golf in the golf simulator. You can also get some work done at a nicely equipped business center, or take in a movie with about a dozen friends in the in-building theater. There’s even Starbucks, in the form of a licensed array of beverages dispensed in a sleek coffeehouse setting. Beyond it are more lounges, a billiards room, and other places to hang out.
You might think you never need to leave the building, but of course, being out in the city was the reason to rent here in the first place.
Price Points: AMLI’s published prices on the building’s penthouse floors, which will become available November 15, range from $4,784 a month for a 1,257-square-foot two-bedroom to $7,377 for a 1,752-square-foot three-bedroom.
