List Price: $1.95 million
The Property: Frank Thomas, who spent 15 years with the White Sox, on Sunday put his six-bedroom, 5,700-square-foot home in Libertyville on the market.

“It’s absolutely picture-perfect, right out of a magazine,” said Val Dunn, the listing agent for the house, who declined to speak about the seller. “It’s beautifully detailed, with architecturally designed trim and custom lighting.”

As photos with the listing show, the 15-room house is filled with tasteful colors, beamed ceilings—and the number 35, which Thomas wore for the Sox. The house has a gym, an in-home theater, a wine-tasting room and a sauna in the basement.

Outside on the three-quarter-acre lot, Dunn says, is a “huge hot tub big enough for 10 or 12 people, a fire pit and a built-in trampoline.”

Thomas bought the house in August, 2007, according to the Lake County Recorder of Deeds. At that time, he was playing for the Toronto Blue Jays, in his next-to-last season. He finished his career with the Oakland As.

In the early 1990s, while a star of the White Sox roster, Thomas built a 29,000-square-foot mansion in Oak Brook. (Deal Estate was the first to report on that, but the print story is not archived.) Thomas sold the home in 2003 for $7.95 million.

I could not reach Thomas for comment, and Dunn would not say why the house went on the market.

Price Points: Thomas paid $1.799 million for the house in 2007. His list price is 8.3 percent above what he paid for the house. Dunn said the seller made “countless improvements,” including the outdoor features and extensive decorating and fixtures inside.
