Brent Sopel, a defenseman for the Blackhawks in their 2009–10 Stanley Cup championship season, is putting his Hinsdale home on the market today. In late July, after stints with the Atlanta Thrashers and the Montreal Canadiens, Sopel signed a two-year contract with Metallurg Novokuznetsk, a team in Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League. Sopel’s wife, Kelly, reported on her blog that she and their four children will move to a farm in upstate New York to be near her family while her husband is away.
Nine years old, the house has five bedrooms and garage spaces for four cars; it stands on seven-tenths of an acre in the Elm School part of south Hinsdale, within walking distance of Hinsdale Central High School. The asking price is $1.599 million. Last week, the listing agent, Bryan Bomba of Coldwell Banker, gave me an exclusive tour of the property. Click through the photos below for a tour.
