List Price: $1.695 million
The Property: From the 19th-floor vantage point of this Lincoln Park condo, you look out over most of the park, stretching from the Goethe statue at Diversey to the North Avenue beachhouse, with all the historical structures, museums and greenery in between.

And snaking through the middle of it all is the park’s placid lagoon, whose fluid curves are echoed inside the condo by a curvaceous wooden surround that doubles as cabinetry and kitchen enclosure. As you’ll see in today’s video, this curved form, designed by the architects Powell Kleinschmidt along with the rest of the interior, protrudes into the strictly rectilinear layout of the living and dining areas, creating the same sort of relief that the park creates for the city.

The living and dining areas both have broad expanses of windows to take in the view of the park and the lake beyond; the dining room opens onto a balcony that, because of exterior construction work on the building, was temporarily inaccessible when we were there to shoot the video.

The kitchen is a two-parter, with an area for entertaining (it has the wine fridge, for instance) closer to the living room, and a more intimate cooking space beyond that. The cooking area has a breakfast bar attached; past it is a north-facing room that could be for informal dining but for now is a children’s play room. The kitchen’s finishes are a cool palette of stainless steel, gray marble, and smoked glass.

The smoked glass appears again in the master suite in a clever way: it surrounds a toilet room, creating privacy both for the user within and for anyone using one of the two floating vanities that flank it. Beyond a pair of pocket doors is the master bedroom, a strict rectangle in this hard-edged building, but softened by one wall of crisp wooden closet doors and one covered in fabric panels. Of course, the view out over the lagoon lends a hand to the softening effect, too.

In a short hallway to the two family bedrooms is a set of cubbies where you can store all the riding toys and other things that you’ll take to the park across the street. The built-ins and others throughout the home enlarge the space—though it’s already quite big, as the owners, Adam and Isa Pressman, combined two condos to make this one.

The two family bedrooms, on the west side of the condo, have twinned bathrooms, and each room has a nice urban view. One bedroom looks north over the mixed low- and mid-rises of the neighborhood, while the other looks west, across an expanse of trees buildings that stretches all the way to the horizon.

Price Points: The condo first went on the market in April, with an asking price of $1.795 million; that dropped to $1.695 million in June. Included in the price of the condo is indoor parking for up to four cars.
