List Price: $1.65 million
The Property: A 65-foot span of windows on the ninth floor of an ornate Beaux-Arts building frames an extraordinary view of the boats, runners, and trees that make Belmont Harbor a summertime jewel.
Behind those windows is another gem, the gracious eight-room condo that the design maven Andrew Hollingsworth and Gilles Noyer have expanded and meticulously decorated over the last decade. Now that Hollingsworth has relocated to San Francisco, the condo is up for sale.
The home, which occupies the front of the building’s ninth floor and a small portion of the tenth, has many of its circa 1916 details intact, including an oval dining room with large crown moldings and a grandly scaled living room with intricate carvings above the doors. These blend with more contemporary features, such as the spiral staircase made of glass and steel that leads to the upper level.
There are four rooms that can be bedrooms, three of them with bathrooms attached; two of those rooms—one on the ninth floor and the other on the tenth—are now used as studies. The ninth-floor study has windows that face the lake; the other bedrooms do not. The kitchen is relatively small but has been fitted out in a light, contemporary look.
The building, designed by L. G. Hallberg and completed in 1916, has a large rooftop deck shared by all residents. It is a few steps from this condo’s tenth-floor addition, which was a separate studio apartment until three years ago, when Hollingsworth and Noyer bought it and installed the spiral staircase for access. That 600-square-foot addition brought the condo’s total space to 3,400 square feet.
Price Points: The sellers put the home on the market about five months ago, with the same price as they are asking now.
