Dustin Byfuglien, a key player on the Blackhawks’ Stanley Cup–winning squad who now skates for the Atlanta Thrashers, on Monday closed on the sale of his former Roscoe Village home. The sale price was $1.08 million—14 percent less than the $1.265 million Byfuglien paid for the newly built 12-room house in December 2008.

The home has a charming French country look, as you can see in this video tour I shot a few months before Byfuglien bought the place. It has five bedrooms, a large garage-roof deck, and numerous handcrafted details, from the old-world shutters on the façade to the stacked-stone fireplace in a basement family room. At that time, the house was priced at $1.395 million.

Byfuglien was then in his second of three consecutive seasons with the Blackhawks (he had also played for parts of two prior seasons), and the team was building toward its 2010 Stanley Cup championship. Byfuglien lived in the house with his longtime girlfriend, Emily Hendry.

In June 2010, Byfuglien was traded to Atlanta along with Ben Eager and Brent Sopel. He listed the house for sale in September, with Curt Ratcliff of @properties. The home went under contract in late January, and the sale closed yesterday.
