The Poetry Foundation

The Poetry Foundation is Chicago’s own literary oasis, featuring a library with more than 40,000 volumes of poetry, a light-filled gallery, and a roster of public events—all FREE and open to the public!

Get a rare view into the colorful tradition of Mexican American women’s equestrian performance in the new exhibition, Escaramuza, the Poetics of Home. Opening in time for Poetry Month, this exhibition tells the story of escaramuza in the United States, addressing complex themes of identity, family, and gender with a lush combination of poetry and photography.

Upcoming events include celebrations of poetic lineages in Chicago and the Midwest, and performances by poets Esther Belin, Kimiko Hahn, Elise Paschen, and others.
