You can always count on playful-yet-cerebral Italian label Marni for a classic design—whether in a garment, shoe, or bag—that has a little extra edge.

Marni’s bicolor patent-leather collection for Fall 2013, which recently hit stores, is a good example. Although it’s available in several sizes (including satchels) and neutral colorways, my favorite is the 11-by-7-inch clutch pictured, in rich hot-fudge-sundae hues of cream and chocolate brown. Despite the name, this bag is actually tricolor: two matte-black calfskin strips divide the shiny sections.

It could be just the thing to pep up all those jet-black ensembles crowding your closet.
