- The Hinsdale Sidewalk Sale takes place outside local businesses Friday and Saturday (rain or shine) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. During the event, The Green Goddess Boutique (52 S. Washington St., Hinsdale, thegreengoddessboutique.com), which sells eco-friendly clothing, accessories, and beauty goods, will offer up to 60 percent off on items from Chan Luu, Love Heals, Missoni, Bittersweet, and other brands.
- The Taste of Chicago is happening in Grant Park (Jackson & Columbus) through Sunday, and the food fest’s offerings include more than CurryWurst and fried plantains. To see art, apparel, and accessories from 28 local designers and boutiques—as well as runway shows—check out the Fashion Focus Maker Mart. The mart’s hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Friday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday; admission is free.
- Blowtique (blowtique.com) is now offering haircuts for men and women. The salon—which formerly provided blow-outs and up-dos only—charges $75 for women’s haircuts, and the service includes a blow-out. For men, the cost is $45. The salon has two locations; find addresses and more information here.
- Plan ahead for a day of international artistry at Robin Richman (2108 N. Damen Ave., robinrichman.com). On July 16, the Bucktown boutique hosts a trunk show called “Time/Timeless: A Worldly Collection of Textiles, Jewelry, and Art Objects,” and objects from Africa, India, Colombia, and other countries will be on display.
