One of Chicago's most celebrated designers in women's fashion, Maria Pinto is making a comeback.

After shuttering her high-end label in 2010, Pinto has revived her brand with a little help from Kickstarter. She used the crowd-source funding to launch a new collection of dresses, jackets and wraps called M2057. The pieces have her distinct urban-meets-feminine edge, but with a functional twist that makes her label more accessible than ever before.

The fabrics are washable and wrinkle-resistant, so they're easy to travel with and care for. The silhouettes skim the body rather than cling, so the fits are universally flattering for different shapes and sizes. And priced under $400, the pieces are affordable.

Pinto will debut M2057 this week at VMR (34 E. Oak St., 7th floor, 312-649-6673, vmrchicago.com) in the Gold Coast. VMR's showroom will be open to the public (no appointment necessary) on Tuesday, April 8 through Saturday, April 12 from 12 to 6 p.m. each day. Along with Pinto's new line, shoppers will also have access to VRM's styling services and its incredible collection of vintage and modern apparel.
