May 7, 2011--The 24th annual Alzheimer’s Association Chicago Rita Hayworth Gala took place at the Hilton Chicago with more than 600 guests generously donating more than $900,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association. Sandy Zane & Ned Bennett and Kindred Healthcare were honored at the event. Funds raised through the Rita Hayworth Gala support the Alzheimer's Association’s mission of providing care and support resources for individuals and families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease, as well as funding groundbreaking research into the cause, treatment and prevention of Alzheimer’s. The evening included a cocktail reception, three-course dinner, program, auctions and live music for dancing. Princess Yasmin Aga Khan began this event in honor of her mother, actress Rita Hayworth, who died as a result of Alzheimer’s disease. Under Princess Yasmin Aga Khan’s leadership, over $55 million has been raised through the Rita Hayworth Galas. These funds, combined with other donations, have helped the Alzheimer’s Association work toward our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s disease. Read more
May 20, 2011—Chicago businessman and philanthropist, Richard Driehaus, hosted his annual fundraiser event that showcases young emerging designers. Guests gathered at the Driehaus car museum, where his personal collection of vintage vehicles are on display, for a cocktail reception, silent auction, and sneak preview of the designers before the show. Twenty-five students from five area colleges and universities in Chicago were selected to participate in a runway show and compete for various scholarships. The 2011 winner was Que Shelbley. May 20, 2011 -- The Chicago Architecture (CAF) held its 36th annual gala, Transformations, on May 20 at the Fairmont Chicago at Millennium Park. 530 guests from the architecture, design, and business communities of Chicago attended the event. Co-chairs of the gala were John A. Buck II (The John Buck Company), Patrick G. Ryan (Ryan Specialty Group), and Miles D. White (Abbott). The evening raised $450,00 for the Chicago Architecture Foundation and the numerous youth education programs offered by the foundation. Read more

Over 1,000 guests tasted bites from Chicago Q, Crumbs Bake Shop, District Bar Chicago, foodlife, Frontier, Hub 51, Il Mulino, M Burger, Nacional 27, Pompei, The Purple Pig, Tassos, Texas de Brazil, Wolfgang Puck, and Zocalo. Amazing Cosmetics' bronzing station was a hit with party-goers as they relaxed and recharged in the vitaminwater lounge. Spex and Ravinia had photo opportunities at the event. Guests admired the new 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLKs showcased outside. Cocktails were provided by Don Julio, Bulleit Rye, Bud Select 55, Ketel One, Nuvo, Tanqueray No.Ten, Zacapa Rum and The Naked Grape. Over 1,000 guests gathered to enjoy an evening complete with tasty hors d’oeuvres from 15 of the city’s hottest restaurants, an array of signature cocktails, a silent auction, a Hawaiian vacation raffle, a photo booth, green carpet, dancing, and much more.
